For the K3 film festival, the initiative “Cinema Next – Young Austrian Cinema“ brings films by promising young filmmakers of Austria to Ljubljana. The programme features two of the best recent short films: Unser Lied / Our Song by Catalina Molina, a beautiful film about a young father and his child, and Erdbeerland / Maybes by Florian Pochlatko, a full-on, but sweet coming-of-age film. Both films won prices for best ficion short at the national film festival, the Diagonale, and the national equivalent for the Oscars, the Austrian Film Academy Awards, in the years 2013 and 2014, respectively. Two entertaining performance videos will accompany the fiction shorts: a young girl tries to sing, YouTube-style, like pop star Adele, and a simple man wants to be a flamboyant opera singer.
